Autumn activities

Autumn activities in Ribe VikingeCenter October 15-19, 2018

Open Monday-Friday 10:00-15:30.

Travel back in time and take a walk around Viking Ripa where the Vikings are busy with their work and chores both in and outside. The young and young at heart are all welcome to join an exciting role play involving a secret Viking treasure, a sneaky thief and some serious magic. A sure way to become part of the mysterious and mythical world of the Vikings.

The magical Viking treasure in Ripa

There's a Viking treasure hidden somewhere in Ripa, did you know? It's a magical treasure which according to an old myth is key to the eternal existence, blessing and fortune of the Viking town.

But what is in the treasure, and what might happen if somebody stole it? Nobody really knows where the treasure is, but perhaps you can help find it... before a thief does?

Help us find the Viking treasure

Join us in the search for the treasure! You get to borrow a costume so that you look like a Viking and can go exploring unnoticed and meet the Earl, the Merchant, the Lady of the Longhouse, the Völva, the Coinminter, the Jester, the Guard, the Farmers Wife and others. You are going to need their help, all your energy and wit.

Every day the story ends at 14:30 when everyone - the Vikings and the role players - meet to learn all the details you have found out during the day.

Many other things take place during the week. Check out the programme below.

Join the role play and enter the world of the Vikings

Age group: About 7-15 years + their parents/grandparents. Especially the youngest will benefit from having an adult or an older sibling come along. The role players will be given a task and are supposed to go search for clues, approach the Vikings that might know something and report back.

Duration: Min. 1.5 hours. Last entry is at 13:30 as the story ends with an assembly at 14:30. Many children become so involved in the Viking world that they might need more time. Apart from the role play, there are more activities on the programme. Take a look below.

The story: The story of the Viking treasure consists of three parts. We will be acting part 1 on Monday and again on Tuesday. Part 2 is on Wednesday and again on Thursday. We will act part 3 on Friday.

Price: It is FREE to join the role play, but you have to pay for admission to Ribe VikingeCenter.

Season ticket: If you would like to visit Ribe VikingeCenter more than one day (and join in for more than just one part of the story), you might want to consider purchasing a season card. It pays for itself on your second visit and is valid for a whole year. That means you will have free admission to the 2019 International Viking Market in April/May and also the events of the summer. Learn more about the season ticket here.
