No job is too small... or big
The carpenters are constantly building new houses, making furniture and repairing old things. They have their workshop in Ribe Town, 825 AD, but you can meet them anywhere on the grounds of Ribe VikingeCenter. Notice their skill in handling their tools - and then note the impressive quality of the hand forged tools themselves!
The Viking Age artisan, like his current brothers-in-trade, had much to do with repair and maintenance, and then as now his excuses were surely imaginative when explaining why a given project had not been finished on time. If you "stick around" for a while in the workshop, you can follow the progress of their work - and maybe even witness when a surly client is demanding to know why his order has not been finished on time.
