Apple and pork skewer

Apple and pork skewer

Æbleflæsk (Apple-pork) is a traditional Danish dish usually eaten at Christmas. The Vikings may not have known our Æbleflæsk, but apples, onions and pork were definitely all at hand.

What's more, Æbleflæsk actually tastes good all year round, so why not have a go at this variation of the dish cooked on the grill:

Recipe for 4 skewers:

4 apples cut into halves
4 onions cut into halves
8 strips of pork, seasoned with salt
4 skewers

Herb butter:

Melted butter mixed with
Chopped thyme
Chopped summer savory (or rosemary)

Put two pieces of apple, two pieces of onion and two strips of pork on each skewer. Place the skewers on the grill or cook them over a fire at indirect heat for 15-20 minutes. Remember to frequently  turn the skewers and brush with herb butter.
