Family friendly campfire cooking
Danish language workshop.
Bring your family to the food workshop at Ribe VikingeCenter. A few wonderfully cosy and educational hours await you in the company of Frida from the Viking farm.
Preparations for the day’s child friendly meal begin with a short foraging walk in the Vikings’ gardens and the wild nature around the farm. You take part in harvesting ingredients for the campfire food.
In Frida’s food workshop everyone helps with the tasks, and for this event there is plenty of room for even the youngest to join in. We will light the fire, chop the ingredients, stir the pots, and as the food cooks over the flames an expectant aroma spreads and the good atmosphere grows. The finished meal is enjoyed together at the high table in the great longhouse, as in the time of Harald Bluetooth.
Cooking together is rewarding in many ways. It is about community, cooperation and learning about each other and yourselves, about ingredients and flavour. And when you have taken part in the process, the food simply tastes better. Frida shares plenty of tips for easy campfire food, which she hopes will inspire you to cook together more at home. After the event you will have the opportunity to buy Frida’s recipe book at a favourable price.
