Fried bread with berries
This is really a simple dish where day old bread is given a second chance and cooked once more. You can vary the spices as you like, and you can even take the dish from sweet to savoury if you prefer. Fried bread slices work well on the breakfast or brunch table, they make a lovely snack and a quick dessert, and we are fairly sure the children will like them too.
Procedure
Choose day old white bread or sourdough bread for this dish.Whisk milk, cream, eggs and salt together in a bowl. Lay the slices of bread in the mixture and let them soak up some of the liquid before you turn them in the bowl.
Fry the slices of bread in butter in a pan until they are golden on both sides. Serve at once with fresh berries and honey.
