A Viking meal created together
The lady of the house welcomes you with a small cup of mead in the grand hall of the chieftain’s farmstead at Hvidinggården. Afterwards, she takes you on a short tour of the farm and its gardens. Here the preparations for the day’s meal begin, as we forage for flavour – wild, edible herbs that will enhance our cooking.
Back in the kitchen, the hearth is lit, ingredients are prepared, and a mouth-watering aroma begins to fill the air as pans and pots sizzle over the open fire.
You are in for a cosy few hours, where foraging, cooking and communal dining come together to tell the story of Viking food culture. Participants work in small groups on different cooking tasks before we gather to serve and enjoy the dishes in the longhouse hall, all seated together at the high table.
