The potter
The Vikings’ pottery is relatively simple and coarse. It is shaped by hand, smoothed, and decorated with “tools” such as stones, antlers, and wood. After drying for several days, the pottery is fired in a clamp kiln for about a day and can then be put to use.
About the series
The documentary films on knowledge and craft have been created by Ribe VikingeCenter with support from the Nordea Foundation.
The films were shot at Ribe VikingeCenter, where you can explore the buildings, the boats and the decorations, and meet Vikings at work with different crafts.
