Frida was born free but had to endure the trauma of being kidnapped and sold by a slave trader. Frida’s daughter, Asketud, was therefore born into slavery but gained her freedom as an adult. Hear the story here.
About the series
The film series VIKINGS BY THE WADDEN SEA has been created by Ribe VikingeCenter with support from the Region of Southern Denmark.
The films were shot at Ribe VikingeCenter and along the Wadden Sea coast. At Ribe VikingeCenter you can explore several Viking Age settings, visit the buildings, watch different crafts in action and have a chat with the Vikings.
The mural in the Thing-Hall
Ribe VikingeCenter has reconstructed townhouses, alleyways, and created the environment we call Ripa Town in 825 AD. Here you can explore, and in the longest and most splendid house, the Thing Hall, the walls of the hall are adorned with scenes from the founding of Ripa. This mural is the starting point for the film series The Vikings of the Wadden Sea.
